My path to snowy skin (partII)
My path to snowy skin (part II)

In my previous post, I mentioned many factors affecting my skin. In this post, I'm going to to talk about skincare products that I've used.

I use different products according to the conditions of my skin that day. I don’t have a cupboard full of different product but I don’t just stick to one brand either. I choose my products very carefully, what works for person A might not work for person B. I look at their ingredients and I try to avoid anything with too much harmful ingredients. I don’t choose totally organic or natural either because I find that sadly, many of them don’t work for my skin.

I want to mention a few products which I think really made a difference to my skin:

SKII: I used it in my twenties and even though at that time I felt it was very expensive, I’m very glad I used it, its famous treatment essence is excellent for anti-aging. I don't need to elaborate more here because there are reviews of this company and their products all over the internet.

Donginbi: this brand isn’t well-known outside of Korea, but I picked it up at Incheon airport during transit a few years ago. I wasn't familiar with this company but I later learnt that they're the No.1 ginseng company in Korea. Donginbi is their cosmetic line. No wonder their products smell of very strong ginseng. I absolutely love them! They have done a makeover in their products and packaging. They don't really sell the eye cream with ginseng oil as a set anymore, but that was my favourite product.

Missha: I had always thought Missha is a young line (for teenagers and early twenties) and I had never really paid attention to this brand. However, I discovered their Misa line, Geum Sul and Chogongjin and I feel I had discovered hidden gem. Geum Sul focuses on wrinkle care and whitening while Cho Gong Jin focuses on wrinkle repairing as well as whitening. I believe the Geum Sul products are targeted at women 30+ while the Cho Gong Jin products are for more mature skin.

I have also tried many other brands, including Australian or New Zealand made brands. Whilst their ingredients are excellent and I really loved the products, sadly, many of them did not agree with my skin.

Choosing the right skincare products is crucial. Unfortunately, it is trial and error and sometimes I do waste money on something that doesn’t work for my skin. I’m usually persistent: I don’t just use it once, doesn’t work and throw it away unless my skin reacts to it badly (then I pass them onto my mum or my friends, haha).
